The European parliament elections were just around the corner when I received the task to design the campaign for a candidate of the Centre Party of Finland. Working on a political campaign was a bit of new ground for me, but I went about it in a familiar way - by studying the audience and drawing upon their real lives, needs and concerns. The team and I made use of both the traditional and digital media to reach different voter groups across the country. Beyond that, we also made an effort to reach Finnish citizens living abroad. The time was scant and we went with our gut when quick decisions were needed rather than iterating over the design. But as the material was printed and brought into use, the feedback was uplifting and reaffirming. I’m very fond of projects that open up new realms and inspire me to learn and inquire, and this was definitely one of them!
